Studio Job opende hun tentoonstellingsruimte in Antwerpen voor hedendaagse kunst en design. Onder leiding van Job Smeets en Nynke Tynagel is Studio Job volop in beweging en al enkele jaren een rijzende ster in de interieur- en kunstwereld. Een zelf samengesteld retrospectief van 65 van hun eigenzinnige, uiterst ambachtelijke werken was te zien in het Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
Baanbrekende items waren de Bavaria-inlegwerkserie uit 2005 en de Robber Baron-serie, kunstwerken gegoten in brons.
Some people really like the artwork the studio is creating, some really don’t. “It’s very expressive, but you can still call it design without calling it art,” says Nynke. “If you look back 400 years ago at the beginning of Renaissance, a lot of fields overlapped and maybe we’re in a similar time and place now, I hope we are,” according to Job.
The collab between Senso and Studio Job has been going on for some time now. We’ve started with the installation of a Pure Light Grey Sensofloor for their art gallery in Antwerp but have worked on some amazing projects over the years, such as the Swarovski Museum in Austria, the WATT Tower in Antwerp and Job Suite, a private penthouse in Amsterdam.
